The mindfulness prompts are woven in so naturally that my six-year-old started using the phrase "my body, my choice" at the dinner table. It’s rare to find a book that makes boundary-setting feel this approachable for younger kids.

My kids actually ask to read this one at bedtime, which surprised me. The way it walks through expressing needs without turning it into a lecture is spot-on, and the mindfulness angle makes it feel calm rather than preachy.

The breathing exercise at the end of each chapter is what really clicked for my daughter—she’s started using it before telling her brother when she needs space. It’s rare to find a kids’ book that makes mindfulness feel this practical and not preachy. We’ve read it three nights in a row already.
